Great Day

Today was great but I'm tired! I dozed off for about 30 minutes and it felt good to get a little power nap. I'm not really a nap taker these days (I wish I was) but every now and then it feels good to get one in.

I woke up this morning for my Friday run with my friend Andrea. After that I came home and got the kids ready for school. I met Christina at the gym to lift weights. I am participating in a "biggest loser from the 951" with some friends. It has inspired me to loose these last 10 pounds before Summer. Ultimately we all just want to eat better, feel better, and be more healthy!

This afternoon I was able to attend a funeral of an older sister in our ward. I didn't really know her but from what I did know of her I knew she lived an amazing life and I knew hearing about her life would leave me feeling uplifted. She was such a good Mother and her children talked about what an example she was to them.

My son Trevor has a game tonight at 8:00. I will stay as long as the little one will let me. Surprisingly, we have no games or practices tomorrow (YAH)! We have a surprise birthday party for our good friend that I'm looking forward to Saturday afternoon, it should be fun.
I'm also looking forward to Conference this weekend!!!

Check it out!

My sister Carolee just started her blog. Her blog address is bunchofbiehns.blogspot.com (or just click on Carolee's name on my sidebar).

She is a few years younger than me. She is number 4 out of 6 kids. Her husband just started his Residency here in Southern California. She recently moved in to a home after living with Family (and saving money) for 6 years. She is excited to start her "new chapter" in life.

Give her a shout out she would love to hear from all of you!!

WHAT??? RAIN?!?!?

To my surprise it started to rain this afternoon. I thought it would be fun to take my " self portrait Spring fever shot" with an umbrella! My 4 year old daughter took the picture for me. It was great fun. Rainy days are a perfect time to go through closets and drawers and get going on the "spring cleaning"! YAH!

Awards Day at School

Today was Awards day at school. The boys were so happy to get their certificates. Trevor (my oldest) has excelled in the sports category more so than the academics department so getting a Principles Award is a very special honor. We are proud of him! He has worked really hard and I can tell he feels good about himself. Ethan on the other hand is our "student" in the family. It's amazing to me how different kids can be. Both are smart, talented, good boys and I'm so proud of them. (thanks for letting me brag- hee hee)!

Today is Friday YAH! Trevor has a baseball game tonight and two basketball games tomorrow. Ethan also has a baseball game tomorrow. Should be fun! It will be a busy, fun, sports filled weekend.

Sorry to dissapoint...

I just can't think of ANYTHING for my self portrait Tuesday shot. I have never really had any one thing that brings me "good luck". I feel like a pretty "lucky" girl when it comes to the important things in life but for the little things I feel like I don't have much "luck". Here are a few examples why...

I never choose the quick check-out line at the grocery store. Even when I'm standing in a line and it's going really slow I will change to another line and that one will be twice as slow!

If I'm running late I always hit every red light.

I never get a good parking spot at the mall during Christmas time.

I have never won the game where they pull your name out of a hat.

OK so these things really aren't that big of a deal but you get my point right?!?!?

I enjoyed reading everybody's SPT posts today!!

New York Pictures

Swimming in March?!?!?

Well, the kids came home from school today hot and sweaty so I told them they could jump in the pool if they wanted to. They were so excited! You couldn't pay me to get into that cold water but kids are always wiling.
Tonight Trevor has a baseball game so that's all we have going on. For some reason I was so tired today! I hate that...I went running this morning and stayed home the rest of the day. I'm excited to make green pancakes tomorrow for breakfast and put green food coloring in the toilet water. They kids are going to love that. (thanks Kristi for the ideas)!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

California Citrus State Historic Park-Self Portrait Tuesday!

California Oranges! I live a few miles from a beautiful Citrus Park that has 377 acres of Orange trees. The Orange Blossoms smell so good! Here is additional info about the park.

In 1873, the U.S. Department of Agriculture forever changed the history of Southern California when it sent two small navel orange trees to Riverside resident Eliza Tibbets. Those trees, growing in near perfect soil and weather conditions, produced an especially sweet and flavorful fruit. Word of this far superior orange quickly spread, and a great agricultural industry was born. An effort to promote citrus ranching in the state brought would-be citrus ranch barons flocking to California. The second "gold rush" was on. The park recaptures the time when "Citrus was King" in California, recognizing the importance of the citrus industry in southern California.

Now don't you just feel like sinking your teeth into a ripe, juicy, orange!!!

Good Mail

I got a wonderful package from Donna. Thank you so much! It was such a delight finding it in the mail box!! I loved everything!!

I am dying to tell everyone about my New York trip! I'm having a hard time posting pictures so as soon as I figure it out I will be sure to post them.

New York was such an amazing place! I had such a wonderful time. It definitely wasn't a very relaxing vacation because of the short amount of time we were there and all that we wanted to do and see (so much to do and so little time)! Some of the highlights for me were the Empire State Building with an audio tour guide, visiting the statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, taking a tour of the city in a Double Decker bus, Regis and Kelly, walking around the city and seeing all of the skyscrapers, walking with the crowds of people during rush hour (we saw Jerry Seinfeld and Tom Brokaw who was staying at our Hotel), taking the subway for the first time, the Broadway shows (Pirate Queen and Hairspray both were incredible), shopping Canal Street in Chinatown (got some cute purses), drinking "frozen hot chocolate" at Serendipity, and so much more! It was such an amazing experience. It really is such a different world over there. I enjoyed every moment. I can't wait to go back.

I will post pictures soon along with my self-portrait Tuesday shot!

Self Portrait Tuesday...

"Life is just a mirror, and what you see out there, you must first see inside of you".
What a great quote! I read it from Lelly's blog, and I loved it!

What do others see when they look at me?
They probably first notice a girl with long red hair, white skin, and freckles.
They may see that I have a smile that shows my gums, with straight teeth.
They may notice that I am a happy person.
Some may think that I'm friendly but a little shy.

After you get to know me I would hope that you would learn that...

I "used to be" very self conscience of my red hair, white skin, and freckles.
I can't help but smile because I genuinely am a very happy person.
I love life and I love being a Mom and wife, I have been so blessed with such a wonderful family.
I love the gospel, it brings so much joy to me.
I'm far from perfect but I try to do my best (most of the time) hee hee
I am "a little shy" and I am an over all friendly person. (watch out if I'm hungry or tired though)-hahaha

We got the tickets!!!

To my surprise in yesterday's mail was this letter saying that I received 2 tickets to Live with Rigis and Kelly for Thursday March 8th! When I looked in to getting the tickets it said that there was a year wait for tickets. I thought I would try anyway and to my surprise we got them!
I'm so excited! I have no idea who is scheduled to be on the show for that day hopefully it will be a huge celebrity and not Judge Judy or someone like that (hahaha). Everyone look for me in the audience that day!!! (of course only if you have nothing better to do that morning)-hee hee
Tonight is our Ward chili cook-off. I signed up to bring corn bread. I have a fabulous recipe (from my Mom of course). It's super yummy and really moist. It's almost like eating a piece of cake. Todd has a late apt. in LA so with Friday traffic he is sure to miss it. I'm glad there is something going on tonight to take the kids too. It should be fun.....

It's so quiet!

I'm loving it right now, Kate is at a friend's house, the two boys are at school, and Mack is taking a nap. The house is so quiet and it's absolutely fantastic!
I am in one of those moods where I want to get everything ready and done. I'm in the "nesting mood" because of my trip in one week. You know how you get, I just want everything organized and ready so things will run smoothly while I'm gone. I know I will have a better time away if the house is all cleaned up, pantry is stocked up, laundry is done, etc. Isn't it funny how it has to be like that before you go away like that. I have two of my friends set up to help with the younger two on Wed. and Thursday. Such a relief that that's all taken care of. Then on Friday Todd will be home. Well, lots to do so I better get going!!! I had to get a quick post in, I was sick of looking at the picture of my feet-haha!
