Sunday
Today has been really nice so far. We had Stake Conference from 10-12. All of the talks were so good. The new Redlands Temple President and his wife spoke. They talked about Temple attendance. There was a sister who just lost her father 4 months ago to cancer and her mother is dying of cancer. She is getting married in a few months and talked about how Temple convenats are important to her. Very touching. Then our Stake President's talk was about pornography. He talked for about 30 minutes on this subject! He talked about ways to teach our children to stay away from it. He talked about how we shouldn't have TV's and computers in our children's rooms. He talked about all the things we already know but need to hear again like the TV shows we watch, the movies we watch, the music we listen to. He said our children need to have "close" friends with high standards. Then he said of course they should have friends of all religions but their "close" friends need to be people with high standards. Our kids should be active in Youth conference, mutual activities, activity days, ect. This is how they will meet and have "close" good friends. He mentioned the book "preaching my gospel" which I still need to get and the importance of having FHE, daily family prayer and scripture study. It was just a very uplifting meeting. This evening my Mom, Dad and sister's (and there families) are coming over for dinner to celebrate all of the December birthday's (there are 5 of us). I'm excited for that. Last night my 7 year old son Ethan had a sleep walking episode. This first started this past summer then when he started school it pretty much stopped. Well, last night he woke up again. He basically runs through the house crying is very scared and we can't wake him up. We just have to let him wake up on his own. Well, the video camera happened to be sitting right there so I got the whole entire thing on tape. We just got done watching it and boy did he get a kick out of watching himself! The funniest part for him was when he opened his drawer grabbed his boxers and took off running towards the back door. Yes, he was trying to run outside (that was pretty scary). He's excited to show his cousins the famous video tonight! I'm glad he has a good sense of humor about it. I have to say it's pretty freaky though. Do any of your kids have night tremors/sleep walking episodes?

Yes, I don’t let any of our children have TV or computers in their bedrooms. That is a big NO
This summer we got the kids a laptop to share. It has to say in the kitchen or family room. So I can see at all times what they are doing on it. I trust my children. But, I still want to be safe. I also think it is impotent for my children to hang-out with friends that have high standards and our children should be active in Youth conference, mutual activities, activity days and scouts. Sounds like it was a great stake conference.
My sister sleepwalk one time. She went to the kitchen. (My Mother was doing the dishes) She pulls out a chair and went peepee on it. Yucky!!!!
Wow, that is pretty scarry about the sleep walking! Both of my girls have had "night terrors" where they cry in their beds, are scared and I can't wake them up. Luckily, no walking yet...scarry!!
Glad you enjoyed stake conference!
That sounds like an excellent conference. Thanks for sharing the thoughts.
No sleepwalking here, though actually my husband does talk in his sleep a lot and get confused when he's asleep. He tends to be half asleep before he's really asleep and I can get him to say funny things. Sometimes it's funny and sometimes annoying that he gets so disoriented.
Sounds like a great conference. It helps to hear these things over and over. I just moved our computer out of our office about 6 months ago. It's out in the main room. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's sounds like your b'day is in dec. too?? Happy b'day if it is. have fun with the fam.
Happy Birthday! Hope you have fun at lunch with your friends.
love,
Carolee
